Our vision for the future is to offer a number of the many deserving disadvantaged students in the community, a better educational future. Looking back at the foundation of the past and taking into account where the program stands at the moment, our plans for the future include:
Night Classes Program
To continue the Night Classes Program in its present form. At present 60 students are enrolled for these classes.
Bursary Program
To expand the Bursary Program to a total of 30 students in the ratio of 10 students at the Junior School and 20 students at the High School.
Ready for Business Program
To introduce a Ready for Business Program - this will be a new project. 'Ready for Business' is a program developed by the Delta Foundation in Port Elizabeth. The program is run over two years and focuses on life skills of personal and business life, whilst still in their final two years of high school. Classes are run after school hours and on weekends. It would be the intention of Grey to enrol approximately30 students in the first phase and to operate the courses on the Grey campus, using our facilities and staff wherever practical. Students will be selected from previously disadvantaged schools in the Eastern Cape.
Computer Training Program (ICT Program)
To launch a major initiative in the area of Computer Training. We believe that there is a serious need for assistance in the field of Information Technology and that a significant contribution can be made in this area. We will make available its computer facilities and staff to train students of previously disadvantaged schools on a far greater scale than is presently being done at the school. The goal would be to focus on basic end-user skills training.
Academy of Sport
To establish an Academy of Sport. We are very proud of our achievements in the field of sport and have earned a reputation for outstanding performances in all sports disciplines. Many sportsmen from Grey have achieved National Honours and some are legendary such as Graeme Pollock, a world class cricketer in his time. Grey plans to establish a team of professional coaches who will, in addition to coaching the Grey sportsmen, also conduct coaching clinics for disadvantaged schools. These clinics will be conducted on the schools' campus and also at the Old Grey Club. This will make available top class facilities in all major sports.
Grey believes it has the experience, the expertise, the commitment and the enthusiasm to undertake these projects, but without the necessary funding this cannot be achieved.
Lack of further sponsors has limited the expansion of this program which has the potential to reach a large number of students and make a real difference in improving their matriculation results. We are sincerely grateful to those who have supported The Grey Outreach Program and helped us to create the platform from past to present.
