Christian Erasmus was born in Grahamstown. His family moved to Bloemfontein and he attended Grey Primary school and then Grey College. After completing his national service, he returned to the Eastern Cape, where he graduated from Rhodes University with a BA Degree Honours. He completed his Higher Diploma in Education at UCT.
His first position was at Bergvliet High School and Camps Bay High School before he moved to Herzlia Senior High School, where he became Head of History, head of Grade 12 and Vice-Principal. While at Herzlia, he left the teaching profession and spent two years in the IT industry.
In 2009, he was appointed as Headmaster of St George’s College in Port Elizabeth. He then took up the position of Executive Headmaster at Penryn College in Nelspruit. He is married to Nichola, and has two children, James and Alice.
